OfficeQuickTips is a collection of micro tutorials, delivered as short videos, animated gifs and infographics, to help you master common productivity and office apps.

One Way to Sharpen Your Axe?

I considered going with ‘Sharpening the Axe’ instead of ‘Office Quick Tips‘, but that just felt too cheesy. The quote is most often accredited to Abraham Lincoln.

I love it, because I have always taken it to refer to the practice of honing your skills in any area, to be more efficient and proficient when the time comes to use those skills. Hmm, It really would still be a good fit for this site…

This is in contrast to the more commonly understood meaning often attributed by Dr. Stephen R. Covey in his seminal book ‘The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People’ which infers the phrase to mean closer to ‘be well rested and of balanced mind’.

Staying truer to my own interpretation, this site collates my regular micro tutorials posted across the social channels which each teach a tiny office skill or productivity habit in a growing library of tiny tutorials.

So Office then, right?

Well, yes, the Microsoft Office apps, but also a growing number of other well known tools. I’m thinking your office in the broadest sense: home office, work, on your laptop or tablet, out and about on your smartphone – there’s efficiencies and energy savings to be had in all these situations.

The productivity and habit based writing across this site is fuelled by my love of reading and research around this and related subjects. You can access my reading list and notes across these topics from the reads area of the site as well.

Should you want a more structured, longer input you can also choose from a number of courses I have crafted, which are available from either SkillShare or Udemy depending on how you want to consume them.
